As most of my readers know, this has been a very vulnerable and trying year for both Richard and I. We have been faced with job loss, a quickly growing business (meaning less time with one another), friendship quests, and most of all - finding our way in this world! Because of my own work schedule, working crazy hours - sometimes not even getting home until 8 or 9pm... it really can take a toll on you. Don't get me wrong, I really LOVE what I do! Its just when you own your own business, people don't realize how many hours you have to put in to make things work. So, with that comes many many sacrifices! Both good and bad. Over the past couple of years we've lost friends throughout this crazy journey of ours. Not having the time to hang out on a regular basis, go out on the weekends to retreats, vacations, day trips, etc - the list goes on and on. After a while, you stop getting those little phone calls.
Its tough, I'm not going to lie. Its really hard and although we try really hard, sometimes thats just not good enough. This past year, we've been trying really hard to set limits with my business... scheduling more during normal work hours, not accepting evening appointments, only allowing a couple of evening sessions per week, etc. So far, we've been pretty successful with that. Throughout all of this, we've also been in the search for a church home. We've been members at a local church - in fact the place we met and married at. I'm not going to mention it, because in no way do I want to give it a bad name, or act as if we left for any other reason. The truth is, God was pulling us in another direction. Nothing bad happened, just God had other plans for our lives. Right now, we are getting pretty involved in Radius. Its a church in Lexington and we are loving it! God is really opening the doors and we're getting involved!
Last night we joined a small group. Complete with 5 other couples, some interesting ice breakers (haha) and some good discussion! We really had a great time! We've met some really great people, as well as another couple who are sharing that same tug in their hearts! In fact, they are already experiencing their journey of adoption. Its exciting to meet new people, but even more exciting to meet ones that share the same passion! I can't wait to see what God has in store of us! I am thrilled to see where he will take us through this amazing roller coaster of trial and triumph! Until next time....
