Today, I went about my typical Monday just like any other. Only today I realized I needed to stop by our agency and run a few errands. So, I loaded my sweetie in the car and headed to our agencies office first. When I got there, they said I had a package! I was a little shocked and couldn't quite understand why I would have a package for me there. And then she walked out from around the corner holding an adorable teddy bear and note. It was from Katherine Grace's birthmom! I couldn't believe it and was so thrilled that she was thinking about her! I wrapped it in my arms and hurried back out to the car to read the note. What meant the most was that this teddy bear was her birthmom's bear as a child. And she wanted Katherine Grace to have it! :)
This is special to us, because this is something tangible that Katherine Grace can have when she is older. We have a box that we are keeping things in. It has her hospital bracelet, our adoption book that we created for the agency, her little hospital gown from when she stayed in the hospital at 4 weeks and the outfit she left the hospital in on her gotcha day. A few other special things... but this is something from her birthmom that she will be able to keep. I did let her hold it for a few quick shots though! :)
I think next time we send some pictures to our agency, I will make sure to send a copy of these for her birthmom to have. I think she'll appreciate them. :)
By the way... did I mention we have a court date?!! Yes! We have our court date schedule for August 26th... and our adoption will be OFFICIAL!

Such a sweet, thoughful gift. Just wondering what type of arrangement you have with Katherine's birthmom? Open, semi-open, or closed.
That is precious! We took our sweet girl for a visit with her sister last week and she came home with her sister's bunny rabbit. I was very excited about having it for her!
Katie, we send pictures through our agency and keep all communication this way. This was what we all felt was best for all sides. :)
Tears flowing!
Me, too, Wanda. So absolutely precious!
That is really sweet. I hope that we can have a realtionship with our childs birthparents. I think its great that you have communication with each other, even if its just pictures and notes.
Katherine Grace couldn't be any more beautiful!
So happy for your family of 3!
Unbelievably precious! Love it!
So sweet! I didn't realize it took so long for a court date! Our Bethany location said 2 or 3 months. I guess it differs from state to state. Beautiful little girl!
